💜 My Parents are coming to visit!!💜

Nothing is sweeter than a treat from home... 💜My parents are visiting y'all!! And I am so excited! I miss them so much 😣😣 My brother is also visiting with his girlfriend and so are some of my aunties and uncles. We booked them a huge airbnb close to the airport with a huge backyard for 7 days over the Labor weekend. I even took off work (not that I need an excuse he he). My parents are bringing tea, coffee and moon cakes from home to gift my in-laws. I also bring them  mooncakes and a massager in return. It is such a sweet tradition, to be eating mooncakes when the weather is starting to turn (or supposed to anyway, it is still very hot this upcoming week😝) I miss the old days back at home where everyone would gift my parents moon cakes and we had box on top of box at home. I love the sweet ones, not so much a fan of the savory ones though. 😚😚 What is your favorite type?? 💭 How do We Share Cleaning at Home?? 👫

💭👫Truth be told, I care a lot more about cleanliness than my husband does, so naturally I take charge more often with regards to tidying things up. This may vary from couples to couples obviously. I personally do not mind because I know he drives us around a lot, plus he does all the yard work and takes the trash to the designated dumpster (because I don't know how to drive the truck which is a manual 😐). We don't normally have a fixed schedule on when the house needs to be cleaned. Sometimes I just have a pretty free weekend morning (like this Saturday, actually!) and so, I turned on some music and started cleaning like a madman. My husband hasn't woken up yet because we went out to eat superrrr late last night and it's a Saturday so I let him sleep in. (He's actually really good with stepping up to do some sweeping or cleaning the dishes whenever he sees that I am tired or tense.) We also just redid one of our bathrooms recently, so the space definitely could d...

😋 Does My Husband Cook at Home??

😋😋🍲 My husband cooks mostly American comfort food at home. His culinary journey normally does not venture far across the other side of the Pacific Ocean where I think a lot of phenomenal dishes originate from. But that also means I can learn to cook what he enjoys quite easily, plus I also like to indulge in some simple but satisfying home-cooking from time to time. I have never seen so much oven-cooking as compared to when I was growing up in my Asian household. We even splurged on a double electric wall oven in our kitchen when we built our house so he can cook two things at the same time.                                    This post may contain affiliate links: see  affiliate disclosure Obviously, my partner also cooks so much with his  baking sheets  . Chickens, potatoes, hashbrowns... you name it. For example, he made these crumb-coated, oven-fried chicken 🐔 favorite dishes ...

🍳 What do I Cook for My Husband at Home??

🍚🍚 Food is such a huge part of any culture and one of the best ways to share your background with a loved one is to cook for them. I do the same thing. At home, my husband and I usually cook our own styles and cuisines from our upbringing but every once in a while, I would whip up a delicious dish for him that also reminds me of home. For example, my husband loves loves instant noodles and befriends maruchan even more than I do. I made him Vietnamese Crispy Pan Fried Noodles, or Mì Xào Giòn. This is a flavor-loaded stir fry topped with juicy beef, some seafood, and a delicious blend of flavorful vegetables. A sweet, savory, and tangy brown sauce glosses over a crispy "bird's nest" shape of noodles for a hearty delightful meal. To get the crispy fancy texture from the noodles, I would opt for the Hong Kong style pan-fried noodles easily found at your local Asian grocery store.                             ...

💖Getting Married Abroad: Do I Get Homesick? How To Cope and Prepare 👫

💖💖 Being a bride so far away from home can be so hard. Especially when your parents aren't around to help you (I miss my mommy a lot). My husband and I, we actually live in the middle of rural area surrounded by my in-laws. For example, to the left, you can see his uncle T's house. And then to the right is cousin K and her baby. His parents live steps away from us, just as nearby as how my grandpas and grandmas were living very close to my house back at home😥 That makes me also miss my family more. Planning a wedding on a foreign land can be quite a daunting task. Literally all of my families live out of state/ out of country and will have to fly in if they are to attend. I feel so stressed sometimes without my mom nearby. As with many grooms, my husband does not have opinions on most details, so I am generally the one to plan to get things off the checklist. We fought sometimes just like any couples👫 Oh, the fights! The glorious, stress-inducing, sometimes tear-jerking fig...

👑Have I Become a "Southern Belle"?! How am I Adopting to my Husband's Family and Lifestyle?

👑👑 I first heard the term "Southern Belle" when I told one of my close (American) friends that I am marrying my white man who was born and raised at the South of the US. What are Southern Belles?? Do these girls bathe in buttermilk and act like they never heard a swear word in their life? I'm looking at you, Rachel McAdams in The Notebook. It is said that true Belles are light, sweet and sociable without being overbearing. In the South, people here are generally so open and friendly. I got to meet his (huge) family for the first time at a family party when we just barely hit our 4th or 5th date. I was so nervous (normally for us, we don't take our partners home to introduce to our parents so soon yet, especially if we have not even said I love you to each other.)  Am I assimilating into the Southern hospitality and classic Southern Belle demeanor? Can I even be an Asian Southern Belle, making both boba and sweet tea? Well at least one thing is for sure at this point...

👀👀 Online Dating: Catfising or Catch?!

🎣🎣Is Online Dating for everyone? Can you really go from Swiping Right to Saying I Do? Well I am here to tell you that it is totally possible! Yes online dating is not only the land of endless possibilities, but also full of questionable profiles, and enough awkward first dates to fuel a sitcom. However, unlike most who sing the blues of this digital love hunt, I'm here to share you a different story, our story. I know at least a couple more folks who found their partners at the altar besides ourselves, so don't give up just yet!  We messaged. We laughed (or at least, I did). He was doubting the whole time before our first date that I was a bot, given my exotic name and equally exotic face. I am glad he took the chance to actually come out and verify the truth for himself though. We both have goofy, joke-telling personalities which make the conversations flow easy. He doesn't judge that I am a stereotypical asian girl that can ace all the tests, except driving test 👮 (I...

💘 Valentines Special!!

💘💘 It is Valentines today!! How do you and your loved one celebrate Valentines today?? For us, my husband bought me a dress and taro bubble milk tea as I am a true Asian girlie to the heart 🧋🧋 We don't really do big celebrations on for Valentines Day but we did go to Denny's earlier for breakfast (which is a new thing for us as we have never been to Denny's together before and I just wanted to try something different). We played a Marvel card game, which is something we both really enjoy, and I might write more about that later. I bought some Girl Scout cookies a few days ago (it is Girl Scout cookies season people, get yourselves some yummy cookies!). I snacked on those for desserts, while watching Twilight. It was one of the Valentines movies suggested for me by Hulu, because every girl's dream is to have a boyfriend who sparkles in the sunlight. Somehow watching that really inspired me to finish the whole series and Hulu seems to have all of it 🎥 I think I ate a...

💟 My Story - How We Met?

💟 What is my Story? How did I come to America and meet my future husband? Did we even have a meet-cute?! I came to the US close to 10 years ago as a student thanks to scholarships. Travel has always been one of my passions and I always know my heart was set on a journey far beyond the familiar landscapes of my homeland. From outside the US, I relentless studied for the SAT, took the TOEFL exam (which is basically an English language test), asked for recommendation letters and applied for scholarships. The studying part was ultimately irrelevant to How I Met My Husband because, being 5 years older than me, he had already graduated by then😅, so I won't delve too much into that part of my journey.  Flash forward, I graduated right around the time when COVID hits. Combined with the nature of my (remote) work, I have never really experienced an office-commuter kind of life, which must be crazy to any boomer I talk to. After much thoughts, I decided to move to another city with a vibe ...
